73 Magazine Index

Hello and welcome to the new forum here at the TCFMC web site.

I just wanted to let everyone know about a project that KC0UQY and I have recently begun. It is a searchable database of all the "Table of Contents" from 73 magazine which was published from October 1960 to September of 2003 (43 years worth!)

The database won't supply you with the article (copyright issues) but at least will let you know exactly what issue an article appeared in. You can search the titles of the articles, the authors (mostly by call sign), and by the month and year.

When I say we have just begun, I mean that all the "main articles" from the "Table of Contents" are in the database (about 8850 of them), but we are still working on getting the "short order" items included. These "short order" or miscellaneous items are the things like editorials, letters to the editor, and other items that were listed in the Table of Contents of the magazine.

All of the data was gathered from Steve's (KB9MWR) web page here: http://www.qsl.net/kb9mwr/files/ham/73.html

This data was fairly good, but it is all in one large web page, and because the data was from scans of the magazine using OCR software there are many errors. We have done our best, using a lot of Perl, to correct the errors and we continue to edit the data as time allows. So if you ever need to find out when an article appeared in 73 Magazine, or what articles appeared in which issue, feel free to try out the searchable database: http://www.w1sdm.net/73/index.html

For you traffic junkies we also have a web site that will bring you our version of the data (reformatted) from the Minnesota Department of Transportation's traffic web page. The traffic info can be found here: http://www.twincitiestraffic.info/

Finally, we invite you to check out our Slow Scan TeleVision page, where you can see the SSTV images received by our station and by many other stations around the world. The main difference in our web page, when compared to the myriad of other SSTV pages, is that ours allows you to enter your location (Lat-Lon, or zip code) so that the images will be displayed in order according to their distance from you, the web visitor. The images at the top of the page are from locations physically closer to you. Our SSTV page is here: http://www.slowscantv.net/

We receive no remuneration from any of these web sites, there are no ads and we aren't selling anything. They were originally created for our own use, but we invite everyone to use them also.
