CW testing dropped - OR Ham Radio won't die!

Ham Radio survived the following:

SSB (just ask some old AM'ers)
The Novice License
The Technician License
The Technician Plus License
Incentive Licensing (almost didn't but we did!)
The 5 WPM Extra Class License

And we will survive the following:

Removal of CW testing

We are made of pretty sturdy stuff - we can handle it.

Well, I don't think it will be the end of the world either. Let's hope that CW portions of our various bands are not ultimately to be thrown under the bus or given away to some other service because of "underutilization". Sounds like to me we ought to be pounding brass as much as possible, asap. Let's also hope that Big Brother is not doing too much listening in on CW to ascertain from actual message content that CW band activity is arguably useful to anybody: I recall my very first DX contact on 20 meter CW after I moved to Minnesota: A station in northern Russia sent this message "Name here Igor. WX cold. Back to you OM". That about says it all!
