To distinguish between real-world events (Ask yourself, can I drive/walk/fly/bicycle there?) and deadlines, anniversaries, holidays, etc, we now have two types of content. Both types will appear on the calendar and the list of upcoming events on the website, but there are a few important differences:
Events:
- Require a location
- Have a Start and End time/date
- Automatically links to Google/Yahoo/Mapquest to aid in navigation
Dates:
- Do not have a location
- Have a Start and End time/date that usually should be set to the same time
- Will appear alongside events on the calendar
While I was fiddling with content types, I also added a URL field to both Events and Dates. This gives you an easy way to enter a URL to a page on another website (or even this one!) that has more information about the event or deadline. Do not include the "http://" - the website will prepend that for you automatically.
As usual, comments and questions are welcome!
