On a suggestion, I changed the site's default page (only for users who haven't logged in) to explain that creating an account and logging in are not needed to use most of the site's features. On the other hand, I'm trying to use this site to cultivate a sense of community, even off the air. Allowing people to communicate through forums, online chat, and posting pictures, blogs, audio and video is a way to foster that sense of community.
I want to draw other people into the club by using the website as a vehicle - the website should be fun and it should be a destination, not merely a place to go when you want to download the last edition of the QuarterWave (which you can do whether you're logged in or not, mind you). So much so, in fact, that I'm putting up ten bucks of my own hard-earned dosh to reward folks for contributing.
